compare the risks

If you buy your coins from a dealer, like Kitco, or Apmex, the chance of counterfeit is pretty much nil. Even if you do buy on ebay, the risk losing your wealth to counterfeit, is much lower, that losing it to the "trustees" of the SLV fund, in the eventual revelation that the emperor has no clothes, which will probably come shortly after the Comex default on gold and silver. The writer of the email, did not say if the coin had a ringing sound when dropped, like silver, or if a thermal tester, like jewelers use on diamonds, revealed a fake. Silver has the highest thermal conductivity, of any metal, so it is not possible to fake it with another metal, or alloy. A thin layer of silver would not fool the tester either.
